Biography of Rahim Saikat
Rahim Saikat is the Founder & CEO, Banshkhali Express | Journalist | Educator
Rahim Saikat was born in the picturesque village of Digri Para in East Katharia, Banshkhali Upazila, a region renowned for its natural beauty and the serene Jalakdor Canal. He is the eldest son of Mostak Ahmed and Rabeya Begum, and in his personal life, he is a proud father to one son and two daughters.
Education:
Rahim completed his primary, Secondary and higher secondary education at East Katharia Government Primary School, Katharia Bagmara High School and Bakalia Government College. He holds a bachelor's degree from Sir Ashutosh College and an MBA degree in Management from Government Commerce College.
Career:
Rahim Saikat began his professional journey as a Program Officer in Anwara Upazila under the BRAC Education Program (PACE). He soon transitioned to teaching, working at various schools such as Charpir Aulia High School, Raypur Union Multilateral High School, Barumchara Shaheed Bashruzzaman High School, and Bottotali Shah Mohsen Aulia High School. Currently, he is an Assistant Teacher at Paraikora Nayantara High School.
A socially conscious leader, Rahim founded Banshkhali Express on February 23, 2015. This community platform was created to give voice to the people and issues of his homeland. Today, it serves 212,000 active participants, supported by philanthropists and community leaders.
Journalism:
In 2020, Rahim Saikat embarked on a career in journalism, joining Daily Info Bangla as an Assistant Editor under the guidance of editor Kalyan Chakraborty. By 2023, he became the Anwara-Banshkhali correspondent for the national media outlet Daily Bangla.
Awards and Recognition:
Rahim's talent and dedication have been recognized on several occasions. In 2019, he was awarded Best Short Film Director at the divisional level, with the award presented by then Deputy Commissioner Ilias Hossain. In 2020, he earned national acclaim as the Best Short Film Director, surpassing thousands of competitors, with the honor bestowed by the Minister of State for Information and Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
